Try the elegant rich reds and crispy white wines produced by the family-run Herdaded da Malhadinha Nova Wine estate near Alentego, Portugal. The winery is located alongside the vineyards and is built into a hillside to allow for a fundamental aspect of the winemaking process which is assisted by gravity. Grapes are rigorously selected and fermented in refrigerated lagareswhile the barrel room is excavated deep into the hillside providing the necessary conditions for maturing red wines.Herdade da Malhadinha wines are full-bodied with wonderful concentration and purity. The winery also functions as a small luxury boutique hotel managed by the family. Drawings by the owner’s children adorn the wine labels in a heartwarming and colorful style.
