Much of our day is spent in answering and sending emails, telephone calls, attending meetings, doing paperwork, or just driving. In short, most of our day is spent doing administrative work.

What’s more is that most of this “work” is stuff that is time consuming and takes us away from more important tasks at hand. Imagine for one second that you didn’t have to do any of the above—that you could choose for yourself what to do with your time each day.

How would you spend your working hours? What would you choose to do? You can now dedicate your time to what you truly love to do to what makes you feel good. Isn’t this ideal? It is. Perhaps for some who have little control over their work this is a far-fetched dream which might not be possible in the near future. For others who are in higher management positions and get weighed down by all the little monotonous daily tasks then trying to obtain this ideal is something you should strive for.

How do you get there? Outsource your work to assistants and other employees who can take phone calls, respond to emails, and do your paperwork. The solution is to simplify as much as possible. You must eliminate tasks which are not necessary and can actually create havoc and stress because of their daily multitude. Then sit down and think about what you really want to do and do it every day. Part of the key to success is habit.

Woody Allen once said, “Eighty percent of success is showing up.” So find out what makes you tick, simplify your life, and do it religiously each day. Even for those of us who may not yet have the ability to dedicate their day to what they’d really like to do, you can still prioritize and simplify in order to create a long-term plan which might get you to where you’d like to be in the future.

These funky shoes are designed by Texas-born Nicole Brundage whose background includes an artistic heritage (her grandfather was a famous sculptor in Mexico and her uncle is a well-known New York art dealer) as well as experience with renowned fashion designers such as Giorgio Armani and Manolo Blahnik.

She launched the brand Acrobats of God last year as a way to express the extraordinary in the everyday; these are more than your everyday shoes, they are works of art.

Fun and stylish and available in wonderful summery colors as well as fall hues such as taupe, yellow, and chocolate, the heels are made from raw wood in four heights for the summer and two heights for the fall.

How many of us have long commutes to work which last more than 90minutes?

Recent studies have shown that the majority of employees in the United States, one in three, have commutes longer 90 minutes per day; around the same amount have attested that they’ve been diagnosed with high cholesterol.

On the contrary, only 20% of employees with a commute of 20 minutes or less report back and/or neck pain. The verdict of these recent studies shows that those with a long commute often have much lower emotional and physical wellbeing.

Statistics tell us even more: Roughly 30% of those who commute to work have a Body Mass Index which classifies them as obese. Similarly, 40% of commuters going more than 90 minutes the distance experienced worry for much of the previous day.

The conclusion is that commuting to work can determine the love or hate that you feel towards your job and ultimately affect your health.

The solution: Try and live closer to work if you can, even if that means you need to spend a few extra bucks. It might save your health.

Italy, a country known for its delicious cuisine, heart-warming people, incredible works of art, and overall natural beauty, even a brief stay in this mesmerizing Mediterranean country will enrapture your senses and your soul.

As the great English author Samuel Johnson (1709-1784) once wrote, “A man who has not been in Italy, is always conscious of inferiority, from his not having seen what is expected a man should see.” But to see what you are meant to see, means you must see it well.

The following prestigious Italian villas and centuries old Palazzi will prove to be the perfect abode for your Italian escapade and a way to see and experience Italy in the finest of senses.

Villa D’Este, Lake Como
Italian villa and celebrity hotspot, the Villa D’Este was originally built in 1568 as the summer home for Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio. It remained in the family for another two centuries before it became a luxury hotel in 1873. Today the Villa D’Este maintains its original splendor but with added modern amenities and continues to prompt visits from artists, writers, composers, and celebrities. The Villa D’Este is open from March through mid-November.
www.villadeste.it

Grand Hotel at The Villa Feltrinelli, Gargnano
Originally the villa of the prominent Feltrinelli family, it was recently restored for 30 million dollars by Bob Burns, the founder of Regent International Hotels. Today the Feltrinelli mansion combines the beauty of Italian neo-Gothic with the modern comforts of a luxurious five star hotel. Guests can sail to nearby Lake Garda’s many ports on the hotel’s own boat, “La Comtessa.” They can also visit the nearby historic cities of Verona, Bergamo, Trento, and Mantova. The Villa Writer D.H. Lawrence once described the villa as “one of the most beautiful places on earth.” A stay at the Villa Feltrinelli is dreamlike and enchanting.
www.villafeltrinelli.com

San Clemente Palace, Venice
Once a 17th century Camaldolesi monastery, the San Clemente Palace is now a luxurious five star hotel located on the private island of San Clemente just a few minutes from Piazza San Marco by water taxi. This typically Venetian palace offers stunning suites and a range of modern day amenities including a golf course, tennis courts, an outdoor pool, and a 1,000 square meter beauty and wellness center. Pick from a selection of three delicious restaurants which serve haute Italian cuisine and offer stunning views onto the lagoon as well as the Renaissance church and gardens of the island. A real Venetian getaway, close enough to Venice to explore its historical treats by day and isolated enough for you to relish in your own private sanctuary.

In just a few weeks the holiday gift giving season will begin and many of us will be frantically running out to shop for something special, different and memorable. 2010 marks the fiftieth anniversary of Neiman Marcus’ annual Christmas catalog offering unique and rare gift ideas. The story began back in 1960 when Stanley Marcus, the son of Herbet Marcus Sr., one of the three Neiman Marcus founders, decided to challenge his team to create a Christmas catalog full of exciting and rare gifts for the holidays. The resulting creation was named “His and Hers Gifts.”

For the fiftieth anniversary of “His and Hers Gifts” each story in The Christmas Book pays tribute to this remarkable idea of inspiring gifts. You’ll find His and Hers Hot Air Balloons (1964), A McKenzie Child’s Outfitted Airstream Trailer (1996), His and Hers Camels (1967), and even Painted Horses (1989).

This year’s offerings include a Tequila Avion private party by Colin Cowie, a gourd ukulele handmade by Danny Ferrington, and a limited edition Leica M9 camera. This year’s featured car is the 2011 Neiman Marcus Edition Camaro Convertible.

Even if Neiman Marcus has a knack for discovering the rare and the luxurious, throughout The Christmas Book you’ll also find “Fab Finds” which are great gifts at affordable prices and “Little Gems” which are gifts under $100. And to top off this fun way to gift shop, Neiman Marcus’ The Christmas Book is now available on your iPad making the experience much more enjoyable and convenient. Have fun!

*FREE SHIPPING at any price with code FALLNM – Offer expires 10/11/10 at 11:59 PM CT

You’re eating healthy and exercising regularly and you feel good. But in order to maintain your weight for good you should learn some healthy habits. Don’t spend a lot of money on weight loss programs just stick to these simple tricks.

1.) Drink More Milk
Calcium blocks the absorption of calories. Drink 1,800 milligrams of calcium a day and that hinders the intake of about 80 calories. To get your milk add skim or 1 percent milk to your coffee or morning cereal.

2.) Buy Cut Veggies
Snack throughout the day on cut vegetables rather than potato chips or your usual snack.

3.) Drink lots of Water
The more water you drink the more calories you burn. If you drink the recommended one liter per day you’re talking about shedding five pounds per year.

4.) Use Small Plates
If you put portions on smaller plates then you will eat less. So for dinner next time use a salad plate for your main course.

5.) Carry Power Snacks
For those of us who like to munch throughout the day, and there are many, be prepared by carrying around pre-prepared power snacks such as almonds or mixed beans with low-fat Italian dressing.

6.) Drink Right
Instead of your usual diet coke drink V8 or tomato juice instead.

If you’re in need of a stylish new bag or a pair of new flats, then Miuccia Prada has the answer.Prada’s Bring Your Own (BYO) collection of bags is a great alternative to the environmentally friendly canvas grocery bag. Such bags are part of Prada’s new “Print Collection” which is inspired by a single outfit in the 1950s and encompasses an assortment of beautiful items including bags, dresses and ballerina slippers made from a range of fabrics from cotton to silk.

The prints on each item are taken from an archive of past Prada seasons which are perfect for spring and summer. Mix and match your bag or your ballerina slippers to your desire; they’re fun, unique and incredibly fashionable.
